In my opinion there are two types of window salesmen and they are basically categorised by what type of company they work for. Most small family owned or local window companies generally do not use high pressure 'direct sales ' techniques. Most of their business comes by way of recommendation and a soft approach to the customer. Therefore their sales people generally are less 'in your face' than the 'deal on the day' salesmen.

Companies such as Anglian, Everest and safestyle - ( national companies,) all use direct selling techniques. They train many potential salesmaen every week with their own training methods. Some of these sales tricks are laughable, such as 'Showhome', calling the manager and ridiculously high starting points with the price. Most of these type of salesmen are on commission only. They can make large sums from just one deal - so just think whos paying for that - YOU! However they can also be down to their last penny. In my experiance  many window direct salesmen only last a few months in the job, as their paymasters dont really care about their future - why would they when they can churn out newly trained recruits every week !

If you want the best deal  from say Everest, you should at least knock 50% off  the salesmans starting price. If you pay anymore than that then you are being ripped off.
